I am a writer. I need an agent.
But the last thing I can say to an agent is, “I need you.”
Most do not want to be needed. They want to sift through the
desperate pleas of hundreds of authors looking for those who only need a
teenage niece or nephew to set up a savvy Amazon campaign to start earning royalties.
With the options open to writers today, a great online
marketer/publicist DOES NOT NEED an agent or a publisher! A mediocre writer who
happens to know the ins and outs of online publicity can sell zillions of
copies of pure, self-published drivel. They can launch podcasts or send out
Facebook posts that incite insurrections and prolong epidemics.
